LEGO BATMAN 3: BEYOND GOTHAM

WB Games

Holy studly shenaniga- oh bugger, we opened the last one in much the same way...

BAM! Yes, Batman’s back with what seems like the entire DC universe (and then some) in tow. This time, Gotham isn’t big enough to house them all, so it’s time for Bats in space!

THWOK! That’s not to say it’s all stars and planets and moons and stuff, for the Batcave’s here, as is the Hall of Justice and several other choice locales that’ll have DC aficionados emitting squeaky squeals of joy. Naturally Batman is the star of the show, but hit story mode and you’ll soon play with Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg and oodles more. But Bat’s still best.

WHAM! As for that story, Brainiac needs to be defeated before he shrinkydinks the entire solar system and causes every superhero to undergo a personality crisis.

BLORP! As with most LEGO games, the story mode’s just what you work through to unlock the cool stuff, before replaying levels and using whichever character you darned well want to unearth treasure and such.

ZZAP! Then there’s the hub – which is slightly different now, with several hubettes linked together, rather than one giant open world city in which to do the Batusi.

CRASH! While the established LEGO game formula remains much the same, costumes with varying abilities are collected, and minigames now include a Tron kinda thing and even a side-scrolling shmup.

AMTIX! One of the LEGO game staples is humour, and this one takes several leaves from the classic Batman telly series. One red brick even makes fight captions appear! Not enough? The person in peril is none other than Mr Adam West.

BUY! If you’re a fan of LEGO or DC you’d have to be batty to miss this. It’s more of the same, sure, but it’s good more of the same – and Bat’s the truth!

take me back to the start...
